1. Overview

GroupRide DataField is a Garmin Connect IQ data field application that enables cyclists to share live ride data with other riders in the same session. This privacy policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and how long it is retained.

2. Data Collected

The following data is transmitted from your Garmin device to our server during an active session:

• Display name – a name you enter manually in the app settings
• Session code – a 6-digit code used to join a group ride
• Heart rate (beats per minute) – if available from your device sensors
• Power output (watts) – if available from a connected power meter
• Speed (km/h) – GPS-derived or sensor-derived
• Distance (km) – accumulated ride distance
• GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) – your live position during the ride

No account, email address, or personal identity information is required or collected.

3. Purpose of Data Collection

All data is used exclusively to display live ride information to other participants in the same group session. GPS tracks are used to visualize the route on the session monitoring page.

4. Data Retention

• Live rider data (HR, watts, speed, distance, position): retained while the session is active. Sessions are automatically deactivated after 5 minutes of inactivity.
• GPS track points: automatically deleted after 24 hours.
• No data is archived or stored beyond these periods.

5. Data Sharing

Your data is visible to other riders in the same session (identified by the session code). Data is not shared with any third parties, advertisers, or analytics services.

6. Server Location

The server is privately operated. Data is stored on a self-hosted server. No cloud providers or third-party hosting services are used.

7. Your Rights

Since no personally identifiable information is collected and all data is automatically deleted after a short period, no special deletion requests are necessary. If you have questions, please contact us via the email address listed on the Connect IQ Store page.
